You don't have to knock your opponent off his horse but it can happen if the lance doesn't break off as it is designed to.

I suppose you could use the mallets as battering weapons like an axe o morning star or mace - ouch!

It is pretty sanitised these days and the lances are designed to shatter easily. Points are no longer scored for unhorsing as it too dangerous. You do get a bit of a jolt even though the points are aimed to glance off. Still accidents can occur as with fencing when a blade breaks.

Summer is a great time for it.

They are held at Tewekesbury 12 and 13th July, Warwick Castle grounds, Hercemonceau (probably got the spelling wrong) near Hastings.

There are also a lot of medieval re-enactments, the 11th to 13th century are the periods of interest to me - before full plate armour.

Hey Taymour how are you doing!!

I was messing around on the internet the other day and found this site, so I joined. Since I am supposed to be "improving my English", it may help a bit!

Hope you are coming here for the whole summer? I saw Ali the other day when we were at San Jose ... working hard. The fields are looking fantastic .

Its going to be a brilliant Club and I can't wait to move my horses there. Did Ali tell you that we are getting a small apartment in San Jose so that I can be near the Club and near Jerez airport too for when I do the pilot training? It should all be sorted out in a couple of weeks........so we will be in for a good fun summer!! You guys could not have chosen a better site for the Club.

Remember me to Alvaro and looking forward to seeing you very soon.

Sam

Hi Taymour,

Very kind of you to invite but I am committed to a full timetable this season and have very few free days over the weekends.

While I can ride well and have good hand eye co-ordination and timing, I have never trained on polo skills as yet.

Where horsse are concerned, this year, I am fooling around with tent-pegging and medieval jousting.
