In 1872 the first polo club in the UK was founded by Capt. Francis "Tip" Herbert at his brother's seat, Clytha Park, near Abergavenny.
137 years later, on 18th July 2009, the magnificent Glanusk Estate becomes home to GlanuskPolo when this exciting sport returns to the locale, hosted by the Legge-Bourke family.
This rare event, organised by St David’s Polo Club, will build on twelve years success and run alongside the ever popular events held at Cardiff and Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan. It will introduce old hands and newcomers alike to exciting match-play in a stunning location with great food and top quality entertainment.
Supporting The Prince's Trust, the Legge-Bourke family has kindly opened its beautiful private estate and built a Polo field for St David’s Polo Club to hold an inaugural charity Polo match between teams representing Wales and South America.
Judging by previous events held in Cardiff, GlanuskPolo is sure to attract a vast array of celebrities and high profile business people keen to impress, along with friends and family groups who simply enjoy the opportunity to dress up and unwind.
